Motivation

It has been shown across the board that the students who study the best , the most quckily , and with seemingly the most ease have all reported that they have high levels of positive motivation towards studing their target language...

Positive motivation means that they are working towards some goal or have some kind of positive rewards from studing the language .Versus "negative motivation" which would imply that you are studing the languege to avoid some kind of negative consequece...for example , if you dont study you mother or teacher will be mad with you ; or you have to study to get into a college something like that...Versus positive motivation which would be something like you are studing because you want to be able to reach a certain level of proficiency in the target language...or you are really intersted in some aspect of the cuture or something ...For a more specific example, I want to be able to read Spanish novels , so that is a form of positive motivation because it is some kind of positive goal that I am working towards... So to continue with my explanation,the form of positive motivation has to be something directly related to acquring the language...so that why we always say you should learn the language which you are most intersted in, because it will be the language that is easier to learn , since you will have the most motivetion ...

The second point is INPUT

all the linguists agree that input is the second most important factor in studing a language , In other words , you need to get as much input as possible ...Weather it be reading , listening , or whatever... a lot of people are mitaken and think that output is more important , so they will always try to speak and write as mush as possible. But in reality this is not as beneficial as reading or listening ...You cant lean anything from yourself , though that is not to say output should be completely ignored...I think it isnt needed especially in the begining stages of study ...I think that you should concentrate as much on receiving a great deal of input as mush as possible...But it cant just be any input , you have to have comprehensible input that pushes the limite of your proficiency...In the other words , it should be just a little hard for you ...If you can read or hear something and understand it around 90%--100% then it is too easy , and you need to work with something more difficulty ...that is the only way you will be able to increase your language proficiency . So in the realm of proficiency, I personally believe that reading is the most effective way of getting enough and controlling the level of input that you get so that it is best fitted to your current level . You need to make a conscious effort to try to find the right level of material for yourself ...And actually learn from it , not just run your eyes across the pages ...

Consistency or Persistency

This is another important aspect in language learning , perhaps the most important , because if you have a great deal of motivation and input , you still cant make any progress if you arent persistency! You have to be getting input in the language everyday , even if you arent actually learning anything , you have to make a place fpr the language in your brain , and to do this is neccessary to do at least a bare minimun of around 15 monites per day .If you seriously want to study , you should at least spending an hour a day . But if you dont have this much time , or if something comes up , you should still spead at least 15 minites , the way your brain learns something is by you convincing it that this thing you are trying to learn is important enough to remember...The brain will only remember things it thinks are important for survival . So if you working with the same things everyday your brain will eventually think that this is something that is important for you to survive, so it will begin to make a space for it and memorize the things you have learned . Even you just do a small amount everyday , it adds up to a large amout over time , the key is not to be impatient, and be content with just doing a small amount everyday , because if you push yourself to do too much everyday then it is easy to get burnt out .then you will lose aspect of consistency , and without this it will be extremely difficulty to study a language . If you are just learning 10 words everyday , the equals arounds 280 words a moth, which is around 3000words per year , if you just keep this rate without skipping any days , in three years , you would have an advanced degree of fluency in the language , in contrast , people end up studding inefficiency trying to practise too much , not putting the effort to actually learn new words , not using the righr level of input , that reason your Spanish has mistaken isnt you practise enpugh , its because you havent seen enough proper Spanish , otherwise the proper Spanish would be concrete in your brain . and you will make a few mistakes . In the words , you need a whole lot of input to be able to be good in a language . You have to think about it , the average native speaker has been bombarded with input constantly since birth . If you expect to be able to speak at a comparable lever you are going to need to have enough input as well...And its not enough just to run through a few textbooks , you are going to need to listen for thousands of hours and reads thousands of pages, those are the secrets to language learning ....
